Drainage Services
Dependable Soakaway Installations, Repairs and Maintenance Services Covering Liverpool, Wirral and Chester.
A soakaway is an essential part of your building’s drainage system, designed to manage and disperse rainwater into the soil, thereby preventing potential damage to your building’s foundations.
To ensure an effective soakaway system, two key components are necessary:
1. Proper Water Routing: Your building must have an efficient system to channel rainwater to the soakaway.
2. Porosity Testing: A porosity test is crucial to determine the appropriate size and location of the soakaway based on the soil’s ability to absorb water. Note that soakaways are not suitable for clay soils, which impede water flow. Roberts & Son ensures both components of your soakaway system are correctly installed and functioning.
We provide a comprehensive percolation service, starting with digging a 1-2 metre-deep hole to conduct a 24-hour filtration test. This test determines the required size of the soakaway based on the soil’s absorption capacity. Once we have the test results, we will provide a detailed and fixed quotation for the installation of your new soakaway.
Over time, silt, sludge, and debris can clog soakaway inlet pipes, leading to surface water flooding and potential damage. We address most blockages efficiently using our high-pressure water jetting system. This system employs a powerful water jet to dislodge blockages and uses backwash to clear the debris. For more stubborn or complex blockages, our specialist drainage technicians may conduct a CCTV drain inspection to pinpoint specific issues or damage.
If your soakaway is old and no longer functions effectively, we may be able to repair it using no-dig technology to minimise disruption. In some cases, installing a new soakaway system may be necessary to ensure proper drainage.
When a septic tank or soakaway is unsuitable, we offer expert advice on sewage treatment installations. Modern sewage treatment systems, such as Klargester or Bio Disc, provide a reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly solution with low daily running costs. These systems are ideal for domestic properties without access to mains drainage.
